The Morris Family In The Pandemic
Welcome to the year Sept 2019- August 2020, our second retrospective home education blog!
We are the Morris family, and the majority of the family are neuro divergent. The children are truly amazing to watch grow up and develop as we go through our homeschooling journey together.
Sophia, Xander and I also have a rare bonemarrow failure condition which keeps us very busy visiting various hospitals, with the joys of endless waiting times and numerous departments and appointments. During these series of blogs you will see how we juggle homeschooling and hospital.
Xander at this stage has been diagnosed and is slowly fading in energy as his bonemarrow starts on a downward slide.
One final obstacle Dad and I face together is the complicated dietary requirements of our little family, which will tie into their education as we travel through the years.
I hope you wish to join us in this retrospective teaching journey through Sophia, Kira and Xanders education.
A recap on my educating methods, which form the cornerstones of our personal learning journey:
I follow the principles that we start learning from birth, and the relationship between age and learning remains fluid and flexible, dependent on personal circumstances.
I focus on ability and interest, teaching in fun and engaging ways personal to the child. It can sometimes be a juggling act at times to meld basic learning along with personal interest, but this is where the fun is born.
Life is learning and learning is life. There should be no distinction in my mind. Education should not be placed in a box, for a certain amount of years. It is forever.
